Raksha
Empowering students and Rotaractors with basic self-defence skills
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT

The Rotaract Club of Bangalore Jayanagar, together with the Interact Club of Shantiniketan School, jointly organized the first session of Raksha on August 24, 2025, at Shantiniketan School. This initiative was designed to empower both students and Rotaractors with basic self-defence skills, fostering confidence and preparedness to face challenging situations.
The training was conducted by Rtr. Prithvi from our club, who began with a warm-up session including jogging and stretching to prevent injuries and prepare the body for practice. Following this, participants were taught practical self-defence techniques for real-life scenarios such as blocking a punch, countering a stab attempt, escaping a neck grab, or breaking free when held from behind. Each situation was demonstrated in a clear and approachable way, ensuring the students could grasp and apply the skills effectively.
The session also emphasized the responsible use of self-defence, reminding participants that these techniques should be applied only in emergencies for protection, not to cause harm. The key outcome of this initiative was that the students gained valuable awareness and practical skills to protect themselves and others if faced with danger.
