"On 31st January, the Rotaract Club of Bangalore Jayanagar organised Learning Python with AI, an International Service initiative focused on technical skill development. The program aimed to introduce engineering students and beginners to Python programming through a practical and industry-relevant approach, with participation from clubs within the district as well as international districts, fostering cross-club learning and collaboration.
The session was conducted by Rtr. Shiv Mohith, an AI enthusiast, who served as the trainer for the program. Unlike conventional tutorial-based learning, the session emphasised a modern learning methodology where participants were encouraged to understand Python by exploring real open-source codebases instead of only writing code from scratch. The trainer demonstrated how AI tools and coding copilots, particularly within Visual Studio Code, can be effectively used to interpret unfamiliar syntax, logic, and programming concepts, making the learning process more intuitive and efficient.
Participants were guided on how Python is used in real-world projects and professional environments, with a strong focus on reading existing code, problem-solving, and developing the ability to learn independently. The session highlighted an important industry insight that developers often spend more time understanding and modifying existing code rather than writing new code, reinforcing the importance of continuous learning.
