Batti Gul - Dil Full
Diwali Old age home visit filled with laughter, light, and love
COMMUNITY SERVICE

"Batti Gul, Dil Full was a Diwali visit filled with laughter, light, and love, held on 19th October 2025 at Mahalaxmi Old Age Home, Vijayanagar. The purpose was to celebrate the festival of lights by spreading warmth, joy, and companionship among the residents of the home.
What began as a festive visit soon turned into a day overflowing with fun and heartfelt connection. Members spent time listening to the grandmas and grandpas share stories from their younger days, tales of travel, movies, and mischief that had everyone smiling wide. The entire room burst into laughter when one witty aunty suddenly shouted, “Ae papai, maintain silence, leaving everyone in splits. In another lighthearted moment, a grandma mistook one of our Rotaractors for the staff and sweetly asked him for her clothes, and he actually helped her pick them from the wardrobe, sparking waves of laughter all around.
Our Rotaractors applied mehndi and nail polish for the grandmas, played carroms and chess with the grandpas, and even watched the India vs Australia match together, cheering like one big family. Every moment was filled with warmth, laughter, and genuine affection, turning the visit into a celebration of togetherness.
The groceries and essential supplies donated at the end were personally handpicked by our Rotaractors, who ensured every item was of good quality and matched the home’s needs. It wasn’t just a donation, it was a gesture of care, thought, and respect. The Rotaractors left with hearts full of warmth, realizing that in just a few hours, strangers had truly become family, a perfect reflection of what Diwali is all about."
