Aarogya Mela - Jalahalli Chapter

Spreading Menstrual Hygiene awareness

COMMUNITY SERVICE

5/23/2026

The Rotaract Club of Bangalore Jayanagar, in collaboration with The Melton Foundation, successfully carried forward another chapter of its flagship initiative, Aarogya Mela, on 23rd May at Government High School, Jalahalli. With the objective of promoting menstrual hygiene and improving access to essential sanitation facilities for students, the club donated a sanitary pad vending machine, an incinerator, 30 sanitary pads for the vending machine, and an additional 85 sanitary pads as backup stock for future use. This initiative aimed to create a sustainable solution that would support the health and well-being of girl students in the long run.

As the visit coincided with the school holidays, awareness sessions for the students could not be conducted on the day and have been planned for a later date. However, the installation of the equipment was completed successfully, and the club demonstrated the working mechanism of both the sanitary pad vending machine and the incinerator to the school management, ensuring they were familiar with its usage and maintenance. The Melton Foundation played a vital role in identifying the beneficiary school and supporting the groundwork required to execute the project smoothly.

This initiative marked another meaningful step in expanding the reach of Aarogya Mela and addressing menstrual hygiene needs within schools. The project not only provided essential resources but also laid the foundation for future awareness and education sessions. It stands as an example of how collaborations between Rotaract and external organisations can create lasting community impact, reflecting the true spirit of service and collective action.
