COMMUNITY SERVICE
"Aarogya Mela – Empowering Young Minds for a Cleaner Tomorrow (Phase 2) was organised by the Rotaract Club of Bangalore Jayanagar on 31st January 2026 at the Government Higher Primary School, Panathur. The project was carried out with the purpose of creating awareness on basic hygiene, menstrual sanitation, and personal health practices among school children, while also providing sustainable hygiene support through essential facilities. A total of 65 students participated in the initiative, which aimed to instil healthy habits, dignity, and awareness from a young age.
From the start of the program, sessions were conducted separately for boys and girls in different classrooms to ensure a safe and comfortable learning environment. The girls’ session focused on menstrual hygiene, including understanding menstruation, maintaining hygiene during periods, correct usage and disposal of sanitary pads, and simple exercises to reduce menstrual cramps. Simultaneously, the boys attended a session on basic and male hygiene, covering personal cleanliness, grooming habits, daily hygiene practices, and healthy lifestyle choices. All sessions were interactive, age-appropriate, and led by Rotaractors.
A major highlight of the event was the installation of a sanitary pad vending machine along with an incinerator for safe disposal. Along with the machine, 35 sanitary pads were donated, and an additional 40 pads were provided as backup for refilling, ensuring immediate and continued access for the students. The girls were clearly guided on how to use the vending machine and incinerator, and the Rotaract Club of Bangalore Jayanagar took responsibility for the maintenance of these machines to ensure long-term impact.
The event concluded with positive engagement from the students, who were attentive, interactive, and eager to learn more. Aarogya Mela Phase 2 stood as a strong example of meaningful Rotaract service, addressing real community needs through awareness, infrastructure support, and sustained commitment to building healthier and more informed future generations."
