Aane Banthond Aane

Safari at Bannerughatta National Park

CLUB SERVICE

8/14/2025

On the occasion of World Elephant Day, August 14, 2025, the Rotaract Club of Bangalore Jayanagar and our sister club, the Rotaract Club of Atria IT, came together for Aane Banthond Aane at Bannerghatta, a day that perfectly captured the essence of Club Service through bonding, learning, and shared joy. Courtesy of the park authorities, who graciously extended complimentary access in recognition of both clubs’ participation in the Belaku initiative, members were treated to a unique experience that blended service with celebration.

The day began with a lively lunch, where members from both clubs swapped stories, laughter, and reflections on their joint service project. Anticipation grew as we boarded the safari buses and set off into the heart of Bannerghatta. The forest unfolded its wonders before us: crocodiles basking by the water, herds of deer grazing, bison and gaur moving with quiet strength, and the vibrant calls of peacocks adding music to the wild. Big cats such as tigers, white tigers, lions, and lionesses commanded attention with their majestic presence, while sloth bears and elephants reminded us of the delicate balance of coexistence. The safari culminated in the Butterfly Park, a breathtaking explosion of color where wings danced like living confetti, leaving every visitor in awe.

More than just a recreational outing, this experience held deep meaning. It gave members a chance to see firsthand the habitats and wildlife connected to their conservation efforts under Belaku, where solar lamps were donated to night watchers protecting the Bannerghatta region. Marking World Elephant Day in this way was both symbolic and inspiring, reinforcing the commitment to peaceful human–wildlife coexistence.

Aane Banthond Aane was more than a day trip; it was a thoughtful fusion of service, camaraderie, and appreciation for nature’s marvels. The outing strengthened the bond between sister clubs, recharged members with new energy, and reminded us all that service and smiles go hand in hand.
